We recently got in touch with Mr & Mrs Giddy to hear about their special day at the stunning Tredudwell Manor in Fowey, Cornwall. From getting engaged in Yosemite, California in September 2018 to then tying the knot in March 2024, they both had the most amazing wedding in Cornwall surrounded by the best people in their lives.
Here is their story.
How and where did you get engaged?
Engaged in Yosemite Valley in California in September 2018. Early evening by a deserted river in the middle of the park.
What day did you get married? Is there any significance to the date?
Wedding date was 6th March 2024. That day was one day after our original anniversary (celebrating 16 years together) and also Ayla’s Birthday. A March wedding was always a desired month for us.
Where was your venue? Was there any reason why you chose this particular venue?
Venue was Tredudwell manor near Fowey. Loved the venue when we visited and is also very close to both of our families so travel was easy for them and some of our friends.
Who was your Photographer / Videographer?
Photography was conducted by David Fielding photography. On the day it was Dave and his Wife Tess splitting the work to cover twice as many things.
Who decorated the venue?
Decor was provided by Emily Rose Events who are based in Redruth. Emily gave us ideas for our day and suggested which items would work for us based on our plans. Flowers were supplied by The Flower Press Shop, Truro.
Who supplied your dress?
Wedding dress supplied by the Bridal Emporium in Exeter. They also supplied a dress cleaning service after the event.
Who supplied your suit?
Groom and groomsmen’s suits were supplied by Moss Bros in Exeter. Mostly hired but grooms was bought.
Who was your hairstylist?
Hair was done by a local family friend who has experience in the hairdressing industry.
Who did your makeup?
Makeup was done by bride and brides family. No external artist was hired.
Who supplied your cake?
Cake was supplied by No. 30 Brownie Co. who is a close friend of the brides sister.
Who was your caterers?
Catering was supplied by Beetham Food. A catering company run by Jamie Beetham and his team who are based just outside of Truro. They kept the day running smoothly without needing to be asked. Everyone loved the food and we got a lot of positive reviews from guests and band.
Did you have any entertainment? (DJ or Band, Solo etc)
Band was called Roll With It from London, they played 2 sets comprised of songs we chose tell their personal list. They also supplied the DJ service between sets. Fantastic band who everyone enjoyed. They also learnt the song we requested for our first dance.
Did you have any outdoor entertainment?
Lawn games were supplied by Nathan from Cornwall Hire. Games were great and dropped off and picked up very efficiently and exactly when planned. There was a great choice of things to hire and communication was very easy.
Did you have any other entertainment (non-music)
Photo Booth was supplied by David Fielding, who also did our photography throughout the day. It gave the guests something to keep entertained if they weren’t up for dancing.
Tell us all about your suppliers. Did any of them go above and beyond?
All of our suppliers put it extra effort to make our day go smoothly and so we didn’t have to worry about anything. Caterers changed the rooms around and kept drinks and schedule running so well we didn’t even notice any gaps. Photographers also captured so many natural moments without being intrusive. They also gave us some photos before the day was even over. All suppliers put in incredible effort and left nothing to chance. They all also allowed us to have the day we wanted when we were organising.
What the best part about your day?
The day as a whole was one big experience and not possible to pick one. Having all of our family and friends there and everyone having a good time whilst celebrating is what meant the most to us.
Where was/is your honeymoon?
Honeymoon was a safari in Tanzania. Safari lasted roughly a week with another week relaxing in Zanzibar. Spent one day in Kenya at the end of the trip.
What is your best advice for other couples?
Don’t stress about the small stuff. As long as you have a couple of things to keep them entertained while you’re busy, they won’t notice if you slip off to have your personal/just-married photos done.
Thank you Ayla and Andrew for sharing your story with us. We wish them the happiest of marriages and lifelong adventures! From the Cornwall Weddings team!
